Food for the Summer

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

School will soon be out, and this means no more school breakfasts or lunches provided for children. We usually get more requests in the summer from families who are either paying their bills or buying groceries, but who can’t afford to do both. We give thanks for all of the people who remember to contribute something each week to the Food Pantry, and request your help during the Summer months as well, to keep it well stocked.

Thank You for the Labyrinth!

It is amazing how all of this came together. Pat Allendoerfer had an idea, the family of Greg Harrison wanted an appropriate memorial, and Don Stapleton was willing to devote hours of work. The Landscaping Committee made it all happen. We now have a beautiful place adjacent to our Peace Garden for meditation and prayer. Thank you.

Farm Cat Faith Ministry Update

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

PURR: “If there were to be a universal sound depicting peace I would surely vote for PURR.” Barbara L. Diamond. Summer 2005 was the beginning of an extraordinary adventure. The neighborhood farm was overrun with cats and the farmer was strugglilng to keep them fed and healthy. We asked to help, and began the supplemental feeding program, as well as catching and neutering adult cats and returning them to the farm. Pregnant females were fostered, and when their kittens were born we found homes for them. Our ultimate goal was to stabilize the cat colony and reduce our feeding. We’ve succeeded. There will always be new cats finding us, but our work with the farm is finished. We have a few faithful felines that come for food once a day - Fae, Mary, Dinah, Esther and Herbert. Thanks to all who have continued to support the cats with donations of food, money for veterinarian care, homes, and most of all by opening your hearts to the mystery of God’s creation. We still need dry food and people who love to feed and commune with these wonderful creatures. If you would like to help, please contact Désha Davis 425-672-7814 or dkzd2000 [Email address: dkzd2000 #AT# yahoo.com - replace #AT# with @ ].

Food Pantry

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

Thanks to everyone who is helping to keep our Food Pantry stocked, and to the Sunday school members who are keeping it organized. We have some regular guests who use the Food Pantry, and it is wonderful to be able to provide this needed service to them. A big thank you also to Scout Troop 123, whose members had a food drive at QFC recently, and donated 24 bags of groceries, cash, and a $25 gift card from QFC to be used for the Food Pantry or the Holiday Food Baskets. With your help, this has become a very successful ministry to the community.
