May 28: Weekly Prayers

Almighty God, we pray that you send your Spirit to your church. Inspire the souls of Justin the Archbishop of Canterbury, Michael our Presiding Bishop, Melissa and Brian our Bishops, Joseph our vicar, and our wardens and Bishop’s Committee. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Anointing Love, whose gifts empower the Church for its ministry of reconciliation, we pray for the Extra Provincial Churches of the Anglican Communion, St. Antony of Egypt, Silverdale and St. Nicholas, Tahuya. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Advocate and Helper, Christ has not left us abandoned. Be with the leaders of this country, this state, and the communities around us. May their work bring comfort, life, and fire of love. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit of Cooperation, we pray for peace; for goodwill among nations; and for the well-being of all people. Send your light to show us how things could be. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit of Hope, we pray for the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison. Anoint them and bring them cheer. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit of Love, we pray for those who have commended themselves to our prayers: Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim; Richard; Marsha; Suzanne; Amy; Monica and her family; Karen; Kevin; Lisa; Ty; Rhonda; Emily; Zach; Taylor; Lindsey; Michelle; Rickey; Anita; anonymous phone callers; and those we name now silently or aloud. Show them the abundance of your grace. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit of Truth, teach us all to know you to be one with the Father and the Son. Especially inspire those who are being baptized throughout the church today. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit who blew over the deep at creation, we pray for the departed especially Laura; Lloyd; Ted; and those we name now, either silent or aloud. Guide them to the fullness of God’s light and love. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Breath of God, we pray in thanksgiving for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week, especially Margo and Sam and Mary. Sustain them with your presence. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Spirit of Life, we pray in thanksgiving for all the good things we have in our lives, all of which come from God, especially those gifts which we name now either silently or aloud. Give us grateful hearts. Come Holy Spirit, Breathe on us.

Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all who are reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

AMEN.
