August 6: Weekly Prayers

Risen Lord, we thank you for revealing yourself to us, for being a lamp shining in a dark place. We lift up all who serve you including Joseph, our priest; Melissa and Brian, our Bishops; and Michael, our Presiding Bishop. In the Anglican Cycle of prayer, we lift up the Province of the Anglican Church of the Congo. In our diocese, we pray for St. Andrew’s in Aberdeen; and St. Hugh of Lincoln in Allyn. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Wise Counselor, we pray for our country, bless those who lead, especially Joe, our president; and Jay, our governor. Help them stay true to their vision and advocate for justice and peace. Guide other  world leaders on the path to peace. Calm the violence against people and nations. Assist and comfort  displaced people and migrants trying to find a safe path to a better life. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Lord of the Universe, ease the many stresses of global warming. Guide us in our efforts to protect the  earth and adapt to climate change. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Almighty God, continue to inspire and build the St. Hilda St. Patrick ministry. Grant us joy as we  contribute to the new wineskin campaign. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Great healer, we ask for your help for ourselves, our families, and friends. Ease the ongoing stresses in  our lives. Motivate us to look beyond ourselves and support our communities. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Living and true God, we thank you for the summer season. For rest and time away. We pray for safe  journeys for those traveling. We ask that you would be with those who have commended themselves to our prayers: Karen; Kelly and Marcus; Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim;  Richard; Suzanne; as well as those we now name, either silently or aloud. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Lord, we pray for those who have passed on before us. Surround them in your love and comfort us as  we grieve their absence. We pray especially for: Elaine; and those we now name, either silently or  aloud. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

Almighty God, we thank you for the many celebrations of our lives. We give thanks especially for the  birthdays and the anniversaries of Amy; Susy; and those we now name, either silently or aloud. Holy One, Let us hear your voice.

AMEN.
