October 8: Weekly Prayers

We pray, Almighty God, for the church and for the world. Grant that all who confess your name may  be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world. Bless Michael,  our presiding bishop; Melissa and Brian, our bishops; Joseph, our vicar; and the person who will  become the next Bishop of Olympia. We pray for the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle  East; and the faith communities of the Annie Wright School, Tacoma; the Charles Wright Academy,  Tacoma; and The Table: University of Washington Episcopal Campus Ministry. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Guide the people of this land, and of all the nations, in the ways of justice and peace; that we may  honor one another and serve the common good. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Give us all a reverence for the earth as your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the  service of others and to your honor and glory. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Bless all whose lives are closely linked with ours, and grant that we may serve Christ in them, and love  one another as he loves us. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit; give them courage and hope in their  troubles, and bring them the joy of your salvation. We pray for those who have commended  themselves to our prayers: Elliott; James; Celia and her family; Jackie and her family; Macy; Emily,  Paige, and their family; Karen; Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim; Richard;  Suzanne; and those we now name, either silently or aloud. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We commend to your mercy all who have died, that your will for them may be fulfilled; and we pray  that we may share with all your saints in your eternal kingdom. Bless their grieving families. We pray  for Detlef; Gary; and those we now name, either silently or aloud. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

We thank you, O God, for the friends celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week, especially Tom; Loretta; Griffey; and those we now name, either silently or aloud. In your mercy, Hear our prayer.

AMEN.
