October 29: Weekly Prayers

Almighty God, you alone are holy, we pray for your church Inspire the souls of Justin the Archbishop of Canterbury, Michael our Presiding Bishop, Melissa and Brian our Bishops, Joseph our vicar, and our wardens and Bishop’s Committee, the Bishop Search Committee, and the next Bishop of Olympia. May they meditate on your law day and night. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray for your prosperity for the retired clergy, clergy widows and widowers, and clergy households of the Diocese of Olympia and the Anglican Church of Melanesia, that they may bear fruit in due season with leaves that do not wither. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray for the leaders of this country, this state, and the communities around us, that they not render unjust judgments nor show partiality to the poor or deference to the great. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray that the nations of the world may show gentleness to one another, like a nurse caring for her own children. We especially remember the people of Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel; the people of Ukraine, and all those nations where violence and fear prevail. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray that we may truly love our neighbors as ourselves, especially the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison. We remember those who use our sock box, little free pantry, and parking lot. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray for those who have commended themselves to our prayers: Sandy and her family; Emilio; Ian; Barbara; Christine; Sue; Giles; Denice; Jim; Richard; Suzanne; Rhonda and her family; Elliott; James; Celia and her family; Jackie and her family; Macy; Emily, Paige, and their family; Karen; and those we now name, either silently or aloud. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray for the departed, all those who have not not walked in the counsel of the wicked nor lingered in the way of sinners, especially Detlef, and those we name now either silently or aloud. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

We pray in thanksgiving for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries this week, that they may know the way of the righteous. We especially give thanks for Nancy, and those we now name, either silently or aloud. Hear us O God, Make us love what you command.

Everliving God, whose will it is that all should come to you through your Son Jesus Christ: Inspire our witness to him, that all may know the power of his forgiveness and the hope of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Amen.
