God made flesh in divine humility, we pray for clergy and lay leaders of your church. We especially pray for our priest, Joseph; and our bishop Phillip.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Wonderful counselor and Holy Spirit, bring your counsel to those in positions of power and authority. Show them your guiding star that they may follow it to your feet.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Prince of Peace, who breaks the rod of the oppressor, we pray for your peace in the world. We pray for relief from War, violence, abuse, and exploitation for all people. We pray for refugees and migrants, and all those who have had to flee their homes. May we all see your face incarnate in each other as the shepherds saw your face incarnate in the manger.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Everlasting Father, you increase our joy. We pray for the members of this congregation as we celebrate your embodied presence in the world. We thank you for your gifts of abundance that we share with each other. We also pray for emergency service and medical workers who toil on this sacred day so that the rest of us may celebrate in security and peace.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Mighty God, we pray for the sick and suffering in the world. While your appearance in grace brings salvation to all, our bodies and minds still suffer the trials of a sinful and straining world. For the weak and the weary; for the cold and the sick; for the hungry and the lost; for those who struggle with chronic illness and addiction, especially those who meet in our building; for all who have commended themselves to our prayers this year; and for those we now name, either silently or aloud, we pray.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Sovereign Immortal who reigns from the throne of David, we pray for those who have died. As we celebrate your sacred birth, we hold the pain of their loss and death close to our hearts. Hold their souls with care and kindness as we hold their memories, until we see them again. For those loved ones who have gone before us to you this year, and for those we now name, either silently or aloud, we pray.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Divine Godhead, three in one, majestic mystery, one essence in three persons, we ascribe to you the honor due to your name. As we celebrate the day of your birth, for all celebrations of our friends and loved ones observed at this time of year, including those we now name, either silently or aloud, we pray.
Incarnate God, be with us.
Amen.
