Caring for Our Neighbors

Projects

Free Pantry

‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these members of my family, you did it for me!”
Matthew 25:35-40
What we do
There is a pantry cupboard at the SW edge of the church parking lot. We provide a variety of foods and personal care products for members of the community who are indigent, transient, or otherwise in need and may not have access to microwaves, can openers, or refrigeration. Food products are “grab and go” items—easy to open and easy to eat. Items are free to anyone who stops by: no questions, no forms to fill out, no ID required.

Sock Box

Jesus commands to love our neighbors as
ourselves, “I needed clothes and you clothed me”. Also, think of the Good Samaritan who
helped a person in need whom the Samaritan didn’t even know.
What we do
We keep the Sock Box in the church parking lot stocked with new, pre-folded pairs of socks for or all ages and genders.
From time to time, we have a sock-folding
“party” during coffee hour.

Little Library

In the Episcopal tradition, education is highly valued. We are a people who ask the difficult questions and educate ourselves about the tenets of our faith and the world around us. Books help open our minds and imaginations.
What we do
The Little Free Library project is a global endeavor with tiny library boxes all over the world. Our box
is located behind the free pantry in our parking lot, and we are a chartered member of this
project.

Food Baskets & Backpacks

Jesus commands us to care for the “widows and orphans” and to love our neighbors as ourselves.
What We Do
-Provide gift cards for groceries to local families for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
-Provide Christmas gifts to children in the families.
-Provide backpacks at the beginning of each school year to the Edmonds School District Alternative High School, Scriber Lake.

Partnerships

Neighbors in Need

Neighbors in Need is associated with Trinity Lutheran Church, Lynnwood, and serves all people by providing basic support services, encouragement, and unconditional acceptance within a safe, caring environment. This program extends God’s love through neighborly compassion and respect to anyone facing life’s challenges, while inspiring all to continue in our shared quest for wholeness. Our vision is a healthy, compassionate, collaborative, and whole community of transformed lives in which hope defines us all, hope is spoken by all, and hope is lived by all.
